Durable Floor puzzle December 26, 2008

Another great puzzle by Melissa & Doug. These pieces are made of heavy-weight cardboard so they easily snap together on a carpeted floor and the pieces don't bend. We also have the "Farm Friends" puzzle which we've had for over two years and my 4 yr old daughter still loves to play with it. The pieces still look brand new even when its on the floor and she steps on it (and none of the pieces have that back layer of cardboard loose). The puzzle is made of the same material so I'm confident that in another few years the pieces will remain intact.

Got this because it was on sale. My toddler loves fish and fish tanks (loves our fish tank DVD LOL!!!) It's a nice bright print. Pieces are about 4-5 inches square (with puzzle connector edges of course). he's just 14 months so it was a "for the future" purchase. The pices are just laminated corrugate - similar to the hard pages books for toddlers, so they're apt to get eaten if the child is too young. The pieces are about 2-3 times as thick as a regular puzzle piece, and seem to be more dense as well, so should stand up once he's two or so (or maybe they only get crushed worse as he'll be bigger!). All in all, a very nice puzzle. We're looking forward to when he can use it.

The Melissa and Doug line of toys are very durable and well made, in general. This puzzle is not exception. It has held up to being put together, taken apart, and repeat many times. It has held up well to three children playing with it at various times. The puzzle is not too difficult that a four year old child is able to do this puzzle. The colors are bright and pretty.
