x wing review March 27, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
In my opinon this is the best lego set made. It comes with luke,R2-D2,and yoda(who seems to be a rare minifig).Common sence should teel you that it comes with the x wing. It also comes with pieces to build yodas hut.The hut is not avalible anywhere else. So I hope this review was helpful.
Perfect X-Wing March 4, 2007 Michael Ladano (Kitchener, ON) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Now that's what I'm talking about! This X-Wing, the second of (so far) three that Lego has produced in minifigure scale, is by far the superior one. It represents that moment mid-Episode V when Luke's on the swamp planet learning to be a Jedi from that master of all Jedi, Yoda. You get a Yoda figure, which is somewhat rare, an exclusive Dagobah Luke, and an R2. Sweet! The Luke figure is pretty neat, as you can choose to top him off with his flight helmet or hair. There's a lightsaber included, which I can only assume is Yoda's, because it's green. (Luke's saber was blue at this point in the saga.) For some reason you don't get a blue Luke saber, and I have no idea why, but the green one has a near little storage compartment underneath Yoda's bed! And that bed is contained within a neato Yoda's Hut, which was not included in the latest X-Wing set, thus making this one far superior. You even get a backback for Luke to carry Yoda around on while he's training, just like in the film. Yoda's hut is composed of quite a few tan, brown, and green pieces. It is completely hinged, so you can open it up, roof and all, to get inside. Building it was a bit of a chore, as it kept falling apart until it was made more stable in later steps. However, I think a patient child will be able to handle it. Inside the house, there's a bed, a stove, and some other trinkets. Totally cool. It really increases the parts count for this set. The X-Wing fighter itself is one of the finest that Lego have made. I guess that's why it is completely unchanged in the recent reissue. If it ain't broke... The mechanism used to raise and lower the wings is controlled by a dial on the back of the ship. It's effective and doesn't slip around. The wings will nicely hold in an "open" or "closed" position quite easily, and two of the newer white elastic bands keep tension on it. The rest of the ship is nicely detailed, with lots of red markings, some headlights, guns, and even a few green vines to simulate that moment when Luke crashes it in the swamp! How cool is that? There's a storage compartment for Luke's helmet underneath, a control stick in the cockpit, and a slot for R2. I found this one to be a fun build. A lot of the design was repeated in the later ARC-170 starfighter model, so if you haven't built one of those yet, this one will be a total treat. Lock S-foils in attack position, and have fun.
X-wing: Rebel Fighter January 11, 2006 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Overall, this toy is pretty durabale when being played with and it makes an excellent display piece.I would reccomend this toy to anyone who is a fan of Lego or Star Wars. I have a few suggestions though: 1. the nose is very wobbley and you can strengthen it by replacing the 2 by 2 brick with a hole in the end with a 2 by 3 brick. 2. the lego company could have made this set even better by adding a cargo speeder,Luke in his pilot uniform and Biggs darklighter so you could make the complete version from episode IV in addition to the one from episode VI.(I improvised by making my own cargo speeder and using the Luke from a snowspeeder set but no Biggs.Oh well.) I hope my review was helpful to you
